We recently published our 2nd Annual “Where in the West Should I Go?” – which this year features 60 places to visit in the West. In addition to Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, we’ve integrated places from our expanded coverage area – including the western parts of Nebraska, North and South Dakota and Texas. After printing the magazine for a year at a great personal expense, I vowed to keep going digitally in 2023. However, beyond this “Where in the West” special section, I think it’s going to be a wrap for American West. It was fun, but not being able to pay contributors for work on this last issue was especially discouraging. I will continue sharing things here and there on our Substack page, including posting the full “Where in the West” list, a lot of which is currently behind a subscriber paywall.
I hope everyone reading this has a terrific 2023. I can’t wait to explore more of the West!
