Trails at Sitka National Historical Park Due to Bear Activity

All park trails are temporarily closed at Sitka National Historical Park in Alaska due to recent bear activity, according to the National Park Service. Park management are planning to reevaluate bear activity each day.

Trail status signs are posted at trailheads and trail junctions. Red means trails are closed due to consistent bear activity, yellow means use caution as bear encounters are possible (some trails may be closed) and green means all trails are open and encountering a bear is less likely.

You can also check alerts and conditions at www.nps.gov/sitk/planyourvisit/conditions.htm. Additional bear safety info is available at www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/safety.htm.
